ENSEMBLES
Wind Ensemble
Wind Ensemble is an auditioned group for advanced brass, woodwind, and percussion students. The KeHS Wind Ensemble performs at all home concerts as well as traveling to multiple festivals throughout the northwest.
Concert Band
Kennewick high school has two sections of concert band. Concert band is the primary band class for all band students. Students in this group play a mix of classic and contemporary literature while mastering the fundamentals of their instrument. During the winter, band students in this class join with the wind ensemble to form the pep band and perform at basketball games. Along with home concerts, the concert band also travels to a handful of festival throughout the school year.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band
Jazz Band is a non-auditioned class that meets "0" period. All students enrolled in an instrumental concert ensemble may show up to participate in jazz band. Jazz band instruments include trumpet, saxophone, trombone, piano, bass, drumset, guitar, and vibraphone. Many students in this ensemble learn a secondary instrument specifically for jazz band. In addition to concerts, the jazz band travels to local and regional band festivals performing a wide array of musical styles; including swing, rock, funk, latin, etc.

String Orchestra
String Orchestra
String orchestra at Kennewick is the primary ensemble for all violin, viola, cello, and bass players. The string orchestra performs a mix of classical and modern music. In the spring, string orchestra combines with the wind ensemble to form the symphony orchestra.

Chamber Music
Chamber music is a collection of smaller ensembles (2-12) members that begin in the winter. All instrumental students are welcome to participate in chamber music. Chamber music allows students to form a small group of mixed instrumentation or similar instrumentation, choose their own music, and be responsible for their own rehearsals. Chamber ensembles will go on to perform at our regional solo & ensemble festival held in February.
Marching Band
The Kennewick HS Marching Band is an award-winning competitive band available to all instrumental music students without audition. The band is comprised of the band instruments, marching drumline, non-marching "pit" percussion, and the colorguard. Students begin rehearsing in August before school starts, and rehearse twice a week through the fall. In October the band travels to several regional competitions to compete against other area high schools. Kennewick has proudly been a division champion for the last 5 years as well as bringing home multiple caption awards at each competition; including Best Brass & Winds, Best Percussion, Best Colorguard, Best Marching, and Best General Effect.
